Maria Athayde Tavares leads the Regulatory & Public and Administrative law practice within Linklaters’ Finance and Energy & Infrastructure department in Lisbon. She has over 15 years’ experience in advising domestic and international investors, sponsors and lenders in all regulatory, environmental, administrative law issues relevant to M&A, investment structuring and project financing in highly regulated sectors – in particular, the energy sector –, further including contract support.

Maria is particularly active in the energy transition space across the different technologies. She is member of the Portuguese Association of Energy Law (APDEN) and further completed the Advanced Management programme in Energy (AMEG) of the AESE Business School and the Portuguese Energy Association (APE). She is also part of the Linklaters’ ESG global team, with members from different offices and practice groups. Maria regularly participates in seminars and conferences as guest speaker.
