Carlos Vaz de Almeida is the partner responsible for the Financial Law and Projects practice at the Lisbon office, with a particular focus on Energy and Infrastructure. He joined Pérez-Llorca as a founding partner in 2023.

Carlos advises clients on all stages of projects, including development, financing, regulation, and contract negotiation (notably PPAs, EPC, O&M, and grid connection agreements).

He has over 18 years of experience at top-tier law firms, Big Four companies, and in the public sector. Previously, he led the Finance, Energy & Infrastructure practice at a major international law firm, worked at a Magic Circle firm in Lisbon, and also served as Deputy to the Minister of State and Finance as well as Deputy Director of UTAP (the Portuguese governmental body responsible for public-private partnerships).

He holds a Law degree from Universidade Nova de Lisboa and a Master’s in Finance from Católica Business School.

Carlos regularly lectures on Project Finance, Energy, and Infrastructure, and is recognized by Chambers & Partners, Legal 500, and Leaders League.
